Texas DPS Sulphur Springs Communications set to close

Sulphur Springs, Texas--- Texas Department of Public Safety has announced that it will be closing the Texas DPS Sulphur Springs Communications office effective December 31, 2010.  Texas Dept. of Public Safety is in the process of consolidating a number of offices from 32 Communication offices into 22 offices.

 DPS Sulphur Springs Dispatch handles communications from towers in Sulphur Springs (KJW750), Greenville (WPUF855), and Paris, which covers Wood, Hopkins, Rains, Franklin, Lamar, Delta, Hunt, and far Eastern parts of Collin Counties in Texas.

When DPS Sulphur Springs Communications closes, radio communications will be taken over by DPS Garland  Communications office.  A total of five jobs will be affected by this closing.  DPS will make efforts to find other jobs for the effected Communication officers.  The Communications center is located at 1528 East Shannon Road, in Sulphur Springs.   The Highway Patrol office and Drivers license office will remain open at that location.
