Wood County Sheriff moves to digital

Quitman, Texas-- The Wood County Sheriff's Department has switched to  conventional VHF P25 digital.  As of the present time, only the Wood County Sheriff's Department units are using the digital channel, however DPS & Game Warden radios are being reprogrammed.  8307 (one of Wood County's Game Wardens) was heard doing a radio check on the digital dispatch channel Wednesday afternoon.  The new digital channel is 153.6125 with a NAC code of 463.

Wood county also narrow banded their analog dispatch channel to 154.7850 with a tone of 364 DPL.

Winter Weather across NE Texas

Winter Storm Warnings will kick off around 6 AM Sunday Morning (1/09/11).  Winter Storm Warnings will be in effect for Red River, Franklin, Wood, Smith, Rusk, Gregg, Upshur, Camp, Titus, Morris, Bowie, Cass, Marion, Harrison, and Panola counties in Texas.  One to Three inches of snow accumulation is possible in some locations and this may fall after or in combination with one quarter of an inch of ice or higher, along with sleet accumulations of one inch or possibly higher.  Main impact will be ice accumulations on bridges and overpasses.

Highs Sunday will be around the freezing mark with lows Sunday night in the lower 20's.  Possibly 4+ inches of snowfall is possible across NE Texas.

Winter Strom Watches extend as far West as the DFW Metroplex and as far East as Topsail Beach, North Carolina.  A Winter Storm Warning extends as far east as the Alabama/Georgia state line.
